2010 American Society of Cytopathology Awards
The ASC provides special awards to outstanding individuals in the field of cytology. The following Awards will be presented throughout the Scientific Sessions of the 58th Annual Scientific Meeting.
| 2010 Leopold Koss Lectureship
The 2010 Boston Meeting is the first year to honor Dr. Leopold Koss and invite a prominent icon in the medical field who shares a dedication and commitment to furthering humanities. Dr. Alfred G. Knudson, Jr. is the recipient of the first Leopold Koss Lectureship Award. He will receive this award prior to his presentation Monday, November 15, 2010 at 11:00 AM. |
Poster/Platform Awards
The ASC provides awards to support young investigators submitting abstracts to the ASC Annual Scientific Meeting. The selection is based upon research excellence as evidenced by peer-reviewed scoring. The following awards will be presented during the Scientific Sessions on Monday, November 15, 2010 at 5:00 PM.
Warren R. Lang, M.D. Resident Physician Award
Established in 1978, the award is presented annually to recognize a resident or fellow in an approved training program who submits the best scientific paper in cytology at a poster or platform session during the ASC Annual Scientific Meeting.
Cytotechnologist Scientific Presentation Award
Established in 1969, the award is presented in recognition of a cytotechnologist or student cytotechnologist enrolled in a CAAHEP-accredited cytotechnology program who presents the best scientific paper in cytology at a platform or poster session during the ASC Annual Scientific Meeting. The first author must be an ASC member.
Geno Saccomanno, M.D. New Frontiers in Cytology Award
Established in 1993, the award is presented to an ASC member who is not nominated for another abstract award. The paper should contribute to better understanding of cell biology or enhanced diagnosis and show significant innovation, good study design and potential diagnostic utility.
ASC Foundation – Future of the Profession Award
This award will be presented to either a platform or poster presentation addressing the issues regarding the evolving role of cytopathologists and cytotechnologists in our changing environment.
